&lt;p&gt;Haaland has 20 years experience with electric cars and imported the first electric car to Norway along with Frederic Hauge, Morten Harket, Magne Furuholmen and Harald Røstvik in 1989. In 1986 Haaland founded the Environmental Foundation Bellona along with Frederic Hauge and worked as its operational manager, quality manager and member of the board from 1986 to 2002. While at Bellona, Haaland participated behind the scenes in the foundation of the Norwegian EV Association NORSTART in 1995. He has been on the board of NORSTART since 2003 and is its General Secretary today.Haaland has taken active part in developing various incentives to speed up electrification of transport and creating a robust market for plug&#45;in hybrids and electric cars in Norway. During the last couple of years Haaland worked on the organization of EVS 24 that took place in Stavanger in May of 2009, and was a member of its organizing committee.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;In 2008, Haaland participated in a meeting of experts organized the UK Government to prepare the G8 process for electrification of transport on a global level. In June of 2009, Haaland took part in a conference in Portugal where Norwegian experiences in this field were communicated to industries, public authorities and political actors from around the world. In the winter of 2009 Haaland worked with the Norwegian Electricity Industry Association on creating a report &#45;commissioned by the Norwegian Ministry of Transport&#45; prioritizing Government action needed to speed up electrification of transport in Norway.
