Chris Bangle

Former Chief of Design, BMW
Keynote Speaker

Chris Bangle began his career at Opel, and then moved on to Fiat, where he designed the brazen Coupe Fiat. In 1992, BMW made him the first American to be named Chief of Design. His mandate to “strategize emotion” through design energized BMW’s classic looks with bold, sculptural lines. As a result, BMW became the global leader in premium car sales and spurned rivals to emulate his distinctive style. After pushing car design to its limits for twenty-eight years, Bangle announced his departure from BMW on February 3, 2009. He aims to pursue his own endeavors from his studio in Italy, focusing on new ideas and cutting-edge innovation.
